Weekly Reads 2013.03.17

I missed a week there! Oh well, here's what I got.

Best Ways to Make Dieting Easier by Joy Victoria - I liked some aspects of this article, but others, not so much.

  • "But dieting kind of sucks." Stop thinking eating a certain way as a diet.
  • "The myth of 'metabolic stoking' through multiple meals every couple of hours has been firmly debunked by science. The research on the topic has grown over the years." Agreed!
  • "For those trying to lose fat, intermittent fasting protocols where you eat more calories in a shorter timeframe, or alternate high and low calories days, can allow you to stay in a deficit easier." Interesting and good point.
  • IIFYM - blah. I really do not like this eating method. Too much work and possibility of falling off the eating plan.
  • "Talking about willpower and how you need more is overrated." Now I'm angry. Willpower goes so far beyond eating and has many applications!
Why Smart Guys Who Know How to Work Out Can Still Struggle to Get in Shape by Nate Green - Wow! One of the best articles that I have read, maybe ever, on training. This hits home for me because of my training with Iron Lou and Dave Graz. They may not know it, but I feel accountable to them! And I thank them for that!

6 Recent Training Books I’ve Read by Anthony Mychal - Man I have a lot to read!

“Paleofantasy”: Stone Age delusions by Laura Miller - An interesting read based on a post from Dr. John Berardi.

Blackberry & Coconut Condensed Milk Ice Cream  - Something to try in the future!

Guest Recipe: Paleo BBQ Sauce - Something to try in the future!

Paleo Plan's Simple Coconut Milk Togurt - Something to try in the future!

Joe DeFranco's Agile 8 - I have been using this to loosen up my hips. Highly suggested!

The Best in Training by Jim Wendler - Jim Wendler rights a great article and does not hold back!

Best Ways to Audit Your Program by Dan John - Simple, yet very important details to look out for. I know that I learned something from reading this!

Weekly Reads 2013.02.23

I  have recently seen blog posts like this all the time, with articles/stuff that people have read. I think that it is a good idea; (1) to share (2) to document/keep track of what I have read.

I'm still thinking of a snappy title for this, but will probably not come up with anything. Anyway...here's what I read this week!

12 Healthy Ways to End the Day - Mark's Daily Apple - Pretty interesting thought about setting an alarm to go to BED!

Protein 101: How Much with Each Meal? by John Berardi - whenever I read an article by John Berardi, I fell like I gained a huge amount of knowledge!

Girls Gone Strong - Manifesto - a great read for women. I will be reading more from this site to share with my wife!

The Three E’s: Exercise, Eat and Eliminate by Dan John - Dan John is the man. A couple of quotes from this article that were great.

  • "eat like an adult"
  • "fasting, is easier for me to do that deciding what to eat"
Disqus - For commenting. Interesting. Although I would want to create my own commenting system. Something to think about.
